[00:01 – 6:59] Opening Segment
At present, Ken has a lot of things going on with his business. He’s always working on expanding and growing his company, connecting new people, marketing, and always adding to his course which a lot of people are currently attending. However, things weren’t always consistently going well for Ken’s businesses. His current company is actually his third already. His first and second companies were both multi-million dollar companies he built in his 20s and 30s, respectively. Unfortunately, he lost both companies due to his alcoholism.
Being exposed to a lot of vices in their home at a very young age, Ken knew he was also headed to a bad direction and was only able to finally turn things around for the better when he finally sought help.
Today, Ken gives us a glimpse of everything he went through—his motivations, his struggles, what helped him get back up after losing his two businesses, and what he thinks it really takes to find success and true happiness.
[07:00- 16:44] Prove them wrong
As young as when he was just 7 or 8, Ken already wanted to earn money. His motivation? He wanted to be able to buy and wear name brand clothes like his wealthier peers. So, he went door-to-door on their neighborhood selling his lawn mowing and snow shoveling services.
Fast forward to when he is a bit older, Ken still remembers the feeling of being picked on as a kid and how that was still his driving force for wanting to earn more—he wanted to prove people wrong. He wanted to prove something to the people that called him worthless.
And so what Ken wants you to know is that if proving others wrong is also your driving force, it’s okay! However, you have to eventually shift your focus to helping other people, to making an impact in this world. After all, successful people make it all about helping others.
Ken also wants to share this Zig Ziglar quote: “You can have everything in life if you just help other people get what they want first.” Focusing on this will surely help you also have the same realization and reality that Ken currently has—your income being directly proportional to the number of people you serve.
[16:45- 22:44] Mindset Shift to Play for the Long Game
Before Ken was the successful entrepreneur he is today who’s all about helping others find success, he first experienced losing his two multi-million dollar business. It was because he became an alcoholic. Ken even shares that he was also drunk that night when he had an experience that finally made him surrender and get help.
After being able to turn his life around, he got to interview 300 public figures for his podcast. He asked every one of them what they think holds people back from finding success and true happiness. Their number one answer? FEAR. So today, Ken gives us a valuable piece of advice to help us take control of our fears and be able to shift our mindset: You have to really take the steps one day at a time. There is no shortcut nor a magic switch.
[22:45- 30:59] Take Control of Your Thoughts and Your Life
You probably don’t realize it but our subconscious mind controls our lives and everyone else’s. Therefore, taking control of your life means you have to take control of your thoughts first. How? Ken has a few tips on how we can start doing this today.
- Write down your goals.
- Write down positive affirmations daily.
Doing this will allow us to get rid of our negative thoughts. It will help us reprogram and physically alter our subconscious mind which may be screwing our lives without us realizing it.
Lastly, of course, you also have to put in all the hard work. Always keep in mind that there are no shortcuts. The harder you work, the luckier you’ll also eventually get.
[31:00 – 35:41] The FOCUS FIVE Segment
The FOCUS FIVE are five questions I ask every guest on my show. Keep on listening to find out what book Ken gifts most often; who would he talk to if he can get an hour of any person living or dead, from the past or the present, and why; that one thing he believes but most people will disagree with; his morning routine; and lastly, where are the best places we can connect with him online.
