Today I had the pleasure of speaking with a realtor at Keller Williams Realty, YouTube coach and owner of YouTube for Agents, Karin Carr. In the process of finding a way to reach more people and advertise herself, Karin used YouTube as a marketing tool for her business. Now, Karin trains real estate agents through her YouTube videos on how to perfect their marketing videos to bring in more leads, clients, and closings.
Let’s dive into Karin’s story about how being authentic and consistent can lead to the success that you desire.
[00:01 – 12:44] Opening Segment
Karin started using YouTube when she was working as a real estate agent and she realized that “life is too short to be doing something that (she) despises for 2 hours every day.” The thing that she despises? Making cold calls!
Karin shares her story from how she changed careers from singer to software sales agent to real estate agent and YouTube coach. So if you’re in sales too, and you’re also looking for alternatives to cold calling, you should totally listen to Karin’s tips and stories.
[12:45 – 23:43] Finding an Alternative
One very common reason why people don’t use YouTube for their work or businesses is that they think that videos have to look polished to get views. In Karin’s case, she did not think about this at all! She just started recording. Initially, all she wanted was to have a YouTube video to embed to her blog posts since doing this increases the probability of your post to rank on the first page of google organically by 43 times!
In addition, Karin also highlights the advantages of using YouTube as a long-term marketing tool. Even though she only got her first big lead more than 90 days after consistently posting her channel, she was eventually able to grow her channel. Eventually, it already reached the point that she needed to hire a team!
So, are you ready to start recording your first YouTube videos to help you become more successful in your business? Listen for more about Karin’s tips on creating content.
[23:44 – 36:49] Marketing through YouTube
In this part, Karin talks not only about the growth of her YouTube channel but the progress of people in her team as well. A person she initially hired to be her showing assistant eventually also got their real estate license and started representing themselves as a buyer’s agent from Karin’s team.
Karin also shares how she got into teaching. After a while, other real estate agents already started to notice the success of Karin’s YouTube channel. She would also get calls from them and she would also oblige to help them with their questions. Since she already spends time helping them, one day, her husband told her: Why not make a course instead? Fast forward to the present, here she is now, teaching people how to use YouTube effectively to market their business with her company, YouTube for Agents.
Karin also shares these valuable tips when you’re creating your marketing videos on YouTube:
- If it’s true and real and authentic, people will engage with it.
- Just stay consistent and you will see results.
Lastly, if you’re wondering if YouTube has enough space if everyone eventually started making videos– listen also to her tips about personal branding. This will also surely help you find your ideal target YouTube audience.
[36:50 – 42:34] The FOCUS FIVE Segment
The FOCUS FIVE are five questions I ask every guest on my show. Keep on listening to find out what book Karin gifts most often; who would she talk to if she can get an hour of any person living or dead, and why; that one thing she believes but most people will disagree with; her morning routine; and lastly, where are the best places we can connect with her online.
